I took over my home garden from my mother a couple of years ago, and her observation is that I don't like flowers... if you can't eat it, she says, I don't want it. Not strictly true, as I am quite partial to wild flowers.

Lol, thanks Flaneur. I'm nnot sure that they'll be away from the kids (i.e. Me), but I'll resist poking them. The few viable traps are already opening up so they're looking to be on the road to recovery.

Sorry to hear about those Aquilega's....sounds great! I'd have definitely been going into the bins if I'd have had access.

I had my eye on a row of pots of post-flowering aquilegia at my local florist this past week; perfectly healthy plants, but clearly past their sell-by date in the middle of the city (people want plants that flower NOW or at the very least tomorrow; not next year...), but I waited too long for the prices to be reduced to a pittance and the plants must have ended up in a bin... (And if I'd had access to the bin area I'd have gone in looking for them, but sadly it's gated off.)

I think there's definitely a very good logic to buying these fly traps, and I hope they perk up with some TLC. (And some time away from kids.)
