Great tip about the moss. It can be a particular problem in gardens. Lots of people use the weedkiller and then their lawn looks awful after! Using a moss treatment and then sowing new seed sounds ideal.

I would really recommend having a good look at the lawn before autumn scarification. If there is a lot of moss in the lawn, then apply a moss treatment (normally iron) before scarifying to stop the spread of spores. After the scarification I would over-seed with a good quality seed, shade tolerant if required. Hurrells have a good range which you can buy on line
