On My Oasis – Missing Spring
Oh, the British winter. This one has been particularly foul. There’s something glorious about stepping outside when there’s thick frost underfoot and your breath spirals away in the frozen air. The opposite is true when it’s blowing a gale and there’s lashing rain – and that’s what we’ve had in the UK this year. I’ve never known it to have such an adverse affect on my mood either. I’m not shy in revealing my battles with depression. This season, that fight’s been made harder by the weather; grey, oppressive, continuous gloom. Perhaps my mood is reflecting the weather, or vice versa.
Luckily, there a few signs that spring is on the way, and keeping busy is a sure way to keep the blues at bay. This week I’ve been tackling the need raised bed area further, as well as enjoying a few signs of the warmer weather to come. The last batch of chicks are also growing fast, and I can’t wait to get the new poultry yard sorted out – I also need some warmer temperatures so this flock of ten can go outside – they’re messy! Almost a dozen growing chicks creates a lot of smell and dust; not ideal for your living room!

It’s almost March so I’m hoping there’s some sunshine on the way. Now I’m off to sow some seeds; nothing quite like fresh green shoots to make you smile! 🙂
