A Tidy Shed’s A Happy Gardener
Whilst at this time of year I am preoccupied with rampaging seedlings, grey threatening skies and my new hobby in somewhat witchcraft-like lunar planting cycles, the allotment shed looks more than a little weary. Whilst once a gleaming gem of shelter, with reclining chair, gas stove and tea at eager fingertips for the past few months I haven’t even been able to get into it. Onion sets and seeds have disappeared in a mousy mess, equipment strewn across the roofed abode so that nothing but a few tools can be found, and the sloe gin has vanished.
Luckily, I have the local Kirstie Allsopp-like Leone on hand to bring her light fingered chic to the rescue, and whilst her bunting and Kath Kidson apparel remained at home, our shed was once again transformed into the welcoming haunt that it should be, rather than the open and shut closet that it had become.
Sloe gin has reappeared, mice, though leaving liquorice bullets throughout, have resisted the temptation to gnaw and tea can now be sipped in peace. A tidy shed is most certainly a happy gardener.
