Shovelling Shit
Before I begin I must mention that whilst the world wakes and, in this case, shovels shite, I was wrapped up in a blanket with a cuppa at a friends house. Thinking I would be home by midday, and therefore available for some manly muscle (haha), I had mentioned to my godmother that I would of course help with the manuring situation on the allotment. However, a night of Badger spotting in Croydon (yes they do actually have them there…and they seem to have kamacazee tendancies or so I’m told) had taken its toll and the following morning I was dreary eyed looking out onto a garden of dabbled shade, dewy grass and grazing deer.
On the other side of London my godmother, having realised the fun that is included in fluttering one’s eyelids and attaining FREE things for ones allotment, had hopped off to the local stables in the hopes of finding some well rotted manure. That she did, and with the help of a friend loaded what must of seemed like way too much shit for a Sunday morning, into the back of trailer, driven it to the allotment and was heavily staggering her way down the central reservation when she spied a chap on the edge of our allotment. Aha! There must be Geoff! The slim, slight figure of my gorgeous godson (Well, no one else tells me and therefore I add it here to comfort myself). And so, with a heavy arm and dirty boot my godmother’s friend was heard to have shouted “Get your arse over here, we need some gay muscle.” Only of course, it wasn’t me it was our good hearted, and cider loving neighbour. I’m not entirely sure if he heard or not but it did make me laugh!
The one thing that has been lacking from all of our allotment plans however has been the actual seeds so tonight we set about ordering everything we should need for the upcoming year. In fact, we shouldn’t need to buy seeds ever again due the sheer amount that you recieve, either that or try and find ouselves several more hectares of allotment! Below is a simple list of what we’ve ordered, more for my ease than of anything interesting to yourself.

We used www.crocus.co.uk & http://www.realseeds.co.uk/ They seem to be great sites with some good varieties and also been recommended by several allotment books. I’ll let you know how they turn out.
